I adapt the themes to the children’s age, to the exhibition, to the particular space or to the gallery’s programme.
The content may include discovering and experimenting with materials, prints and working with texture, collage and colour experiments, drawing and painting, flat and three-dimensional work, experimental printmaking techniques, and working with natural and unconventional materials.

Who it is for: children roughly 5–13 years old

Equipment and materials: depending on the particular workshop: paper, card, paints, brushes, drawing materials, glues, printing materials, natural materials, textiles, recycled and other experimental materials.

The workshop can be extended with experimental printing processes, for instance prints from various materials, printing with a balloon, making stamps, frottage, blind embossing, iris printing or combining printing with assemblage.

What participants create: their own printing plate and a series of original prints; their own printed bag, T-shirt or other textile item.

The theme can be tailored to a particular exhibition or institution. One example is the workshop Mystická krajina (Mystical Landscape), which I prepared for the Josef Váchal Museum in Litomyšl, in which participants made their own imaginary landscapes from reproductions and prints inspired by the work of Josef Váchal.

The workshop is relaxing and experiential and is suitable even for participants with no previous experience of art.

What participants create: their own original collage and experience of the principles of layering, composition, association and visual storytelling.

Participants can work from their own design: a simple picture, a symbol or a decorative pattern around 20 × 20 cm in size. Inspirational motifs and templates are also available.

What participants create: their own finished mosaic around 20 × 20 cm and experience of the basic processes of mosaic work.

Possible extension: The workshop can be tailored thematically to a particular exhibition, space or group of participants. It is also possible to work with a specific colour palette, with local motifs or with recycled materials.

The emphasis is not only on “drawing the object correctly”, but also on the ability to see and understand what we are drawing, to perceive the relationships, the space and the details around us.
